Intensive Care Unit
Barrow Regional Medical Center maintains a six-bed Intensive Care Unit serving adult patients. Core staffing includes 3 Registered Nurses and a monitor technician, with supplemental staff added as needed according to patient acuity. The average length of stay for a patient is 2 to 3 days.
In our ICU, critically ill patients are provided with constant multidisciplinary assessment and intervention in order to restore stability and prevent complications. Highly skilled nurses and physicians and state-of-the-art equipment combine to afford optimum patient outcomes. Special certifications are encouraged and maintained by key nursing staff members. In addition, all ICU nurses are required to attend basic nursing and ICU skills competency training annually and remain current in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification as they serve on our Rapid Response and Code Teams.
