Emergency Department Services

The Emergency Department

The Emergency Room has 7 rooms, 9 beds and a FastTrack area with 3 beds for quick check-in. Fast Track handles all minor care, ranging from sore throats to minor orthopedic injuries.  Barrow Regional Medical Center's Emergency Department is staffed with board-certified emergency physicians, well-trained and qualified nursing staff and techs.

The Medical Screening Program

If a patient’s condition is one that is considered to be non-urgent and the patient is without insurance, the patient will be asked to provide a reduced clinic fee for Emergency Department services. This cost is for overhead of the Emergency Department only and is less than other outpatient clinics in the surrounding area. If the patient chooses not to pay for these services, he or she will be referred to outpatient services that are equipped to handle their medical needs at a free clinic and other health care services. All medical emergencies and conditions requiring urgent evaluation will be seen.

Yvonne joined Barrow Regional Medical Center in November after 5 years at Northside Hospital  Cherokee in Canton. She earned her BSN and RN from Jacksonville University, and an MBA while working in the Atlanta area. She also has Emergency Services Management experience while working at Memorial Hospital Pembroke and Broward General Medical Center in Florida. “As our community continues to grow our Emergency Department looks at how best we can serve our community,” said Yvonne. “We are implementing a Nurse First Program in our busiest hours so that when a patient arrives in the Emergency Department they will see a Nurse first.”
