Before You Arrive
Admission Arrangements
It is our goal to make your hospital stay as comfortable as possible. Your physician will arrange your admission to Barrow Regional Medical Center in advance. Your physician's office will inform you when to arrive at our patient registration department.
Non-Smoking Campus
Barrow Regional Medical Center is a smoke-free campus. Smoking is not allowed within the hospital, in the parking lot or on the hospital grounds. Cigarette receptacles are placed at the front of the hospital and the ER entrance for easy disposal when you exit your vehicle.
Insurance Pre-Certification
Many insurance plans require pre-certification for non-emergency visits to the hopsital. It is the responsibility of the patient to obtain pre-certification from their insurance provider.
Surgery Instructions
If you will be admitted to the hospital for a surgical procedure, please make sure to ask your physician for detailed instructions to follow the day and night prior to being admitted. It is important to closely follow any instructions you receive prior to surgery, as complications can arise if not followed properly.
Personal Belongings
Patients are welcome to bring their own attire; however, hopsital gowns will be provided. You will need to bring personal care items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste or shampoo and special needs such as eyeglasses, dentures or hearing aids. WE CANNOT ASSUME LIABILITY FOR LOST ITEMS; therefore we strongly recommend that valuables including medications, money, jewelry, credit cards, etc. be left at home. However, we do offer safe storage for those items if necessary.
