Barrow Regional Medical Center is a 56-bed acute care facility located in Winder, Georgia, approximately 45 miles east of Atlanta and 20 miles west of Athens. Situated between two main corridors of transportation, I-85 and GA Hwy 316, Barrow Regional Medical Center serves a primary service area of approximately 50,000. The county hosts a diverse economic base, including industry, agriculture, education, small business and healthcare. Barrow County was incorporated in 1911, and its county seat is Winder. The other towns in the county include Auburn, Bethlehem, Braselton, Carl and Statham. Braselton was named the most recession-resistant town in America by The Gadberry Group in 2009, and is home to Chateau Elan, a hotel, winery, golf and spa resort, as well a number of industries. Statham is home to The Georgia Club, a prestigious golf community with a 27-hole Dennis Griffiths golf course and a wide range of homes for sale in various neighborhoods. Barrow County offers the peace of mind of living in a small town, but the conveniences of Atlanta and Athens being a short drive away.
