Jared Whipkey
Chief Financial Officer
Jared joined Barrow Regional Medical Center in July 2009 as
the Chief Financial Officer after serving as Controller at Santa Rosa Medical
Center, another Health Management facility, in Milton, Florida. Jared was one
of five leaders to receive the coveted title “CFO of the Year” by Health
Management Associates in February 2011. He earned a bachelor’s degree in
Actuarial Science in December 2005, and a master’s degree in Business
Administration in April 2007, both from Florida State University, where he was
a walk-on quarterback during the 2003-2006 seasons.
Jared was drawn to a career in healthcare administration
while completing his MBA at Florida State. He had an opportunity to intern with
the chief financial Officer at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital while learning
about the complexities of healthcare financing. During his internship, he sat
in on capital budgeting brainstorming sessions and learning the inner workings
of the facility’s purchasing process.
